A medical transport jet carrying a critically ill child and her mother, along with four crew members, crashed in a crowded Philadelphia neighborhood last night. Several homes were engulfed in flames after the Learjet 55 operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance exploded minutes after takeoff from Northeast Philadelphia Airport.
On its way back to Mexico with the child patient who had been under treatment in Philadelphia, the aircraft disappeared from the radar soon after it took off. Accounts of the witnesses regarding the horrific scene: An airplane crashed from the sky, engulfed with a huge ball of fire, as it hit ground.
It involved dousing flames in the midst of firefighters, police, and paramedics as it came with the treatment of casualties. The NTSB, together with FAA, is conducting investigations into the cause of the crash.
Each person in the community was shocked. It became serious especially when air safety issues were raised. The cause might lie in errors of pilots, mechanical failure, bad weather among others.

Chaos and destruction
The accident took place in the urban neighborhood, and the place was damaged. Debris scattered all over the intersection while fires engulfed houses. According to witnesses, they heard a blast, and a column of black smoke filled the air after that.
“It was like an earthquake,” said Michael Schiavone, a resident of a close neighborhood. “When I checked my home security camera footage, it looked like a missile was coming down. There was a large explosion so that I thought we were under attack for a second.”
Investigation Underway:
The investigators check on flight data recorder, the cockpit voice recorder, interview eyewitnesses and air traffic controllers. They will check on the weather, maintenance records, and qualifications of the pilot.
