Cameron Diaz, the famous Hollywood actress, has made a return to acting after a break of several years. However, she recently shared that her return may not be permanent. In an interview with Vogue Mexico, she opened up about her decision to take on roles in Hollywood again but emphasized that it could be a short-term commitment.
Cameron Diaz’s Hollywood Comeback Explained
Cameron Diaz stepped away from the spotlight in 2014 to focus on her family life. She got married to Benji Madden and became a mother, which became her primary focus. She shared that she was putting all her energy into raising her two children, daughter Raddix and son Cardinal. Diaz said that motherhood has been the most fulfilling role she’s ever had. “I’m just trying to stay alive, just like every other mother,” she explained with a laugh.

Despite the challenges, Diaz called being a mother “completely the best thing.” She has always maintained that her family and wine business were her top priorities during her time away from acting.
Cameron Diaz’s return to Hollywood began with the new Netflix movie Back in Action, and she is also set to reprise her role as Princess Fiona in the upcoming Shrek film. But she told Vogue Mexico that she was only willing to take on a small, temporary role. For example, her role in the movie Outcome was a short commitment, and she was able to spend the majority of her time with her family.
Diaz mentioned that working with Keanu Reeves, Matt Bomer, and Jonah Hill in Outcome was an invitation she couldn’t resist, but she only agreed to the project because of its brief time frame.
Diaz had previously said in 2018 that she was “semi-retired,” and later clarified that she was “actually retired.” During this time, she turned down several acting offers to focus on her family and other business ventures, particularly her wine company. In a behind-the-scenes interview for Back in Action, she mentioned that she had said no to every acting opportunity in order to be there for her family.
Even though Diaz is back in the movie scene, she remains cautious about her future in the industry, keeping her family life at the center of her priorities. “It was an invitation to work with someone I admire,” she said about the film Outcome, adding that she could balance the short commitment with her family life.
