Scorpions Drummer Mikkey Dee Recovers from Sepsis, Ready for Band’s 60th Anniversary

Mikkey Dee, the legendary drummer of Scorpions and former member of Motörhead, recently shared important news about his health. In a heartfelt Facebook post on January 2, 2025, Mikkey revealed that he had been hospitalized for three weeks due to a severe blood infection called sepsis.

Mikkey Dee Battles Sepsis, Recovers

In his post, Mikkey thanked fans for their Christmas and New Year wishes, explaining that he couldn’t respond earlier because of his illness. He described the situation as a challenging time but expressed gratitude for the excellent care he received at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, his hometown.

Mikkey mentioned that the infection began after an ankle injury, which caused severe swelling and led to his hospitalization. He shared that doctors acted quickly to treat the infection, as his condition was critical.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Mikkey said, “Another day and I might have been playing drums with Lemmy [Kilmister, the late Motörhead frontman] in heaven.” Despite the seriousness of his illness, he is now home and focused on recovery and rehabilitation.

Looking ahead to 2025, Mikkey is determined to return to the stage and perform with Scorpions, who are celebrating their 60th anniversary this year. He expressed excitement about upcoming concerts, including a Las Vegas residency starting in late February.

Mikkey ended his message by wishing his fans good health and a fantastic year filled with rock and roll. His strength and optimism serve as an inspiration to his followers and fellow musicians.
