Anupam Kher said that after completing every film, he gives ₹25,000 to Mahesh Bhatt. This tradition started many years ago when he first entered the film industry. Back then, the amount was very small, but over time, it increased step by step.
He explained that it began with ₹250, then slowly grew to ₹500, ₹1,000, ₹5,000, and now ₹25,000. He shared that this is not about money, but about respect and gratitude towards the person who gave him his first big opportunity.

Anupam Kher started his acting career with the film Saaransh, directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The film became a turning point in his life and is still considered one of his most powerful performances.
He said that Mahesh Bhatt is not just a director for him, but a mentor who shaped his career. That is why he calls him his “guru” and continues this ritual even today.
A Dramatic Moment Before His Big Break
Anupam Kher also recalled a shocking moment from the time of Saaransh. Just a few days before shooting, he was removed from the film and replaced by another actor. This left him deeply hurt and disappointed.
