Actor Akshay Kumar recently spoke openly about the film Dhurandhar, which features Ranveer Singh in the lead role. During a session at the India Today Conclave Delhi 2026, the actor was asked whether he felt he could have been part of the action film.
While answering the question, Akshay Kumar shared his honest thoughts about missing out on certain roles in the film industry. The actor explained that he does not feel insecure if a film goes to another actor.
Akshay Kumar Says Directors Choose What They Feel Is Right
When asked whether he wished he had been cast in Dhurandhar, Akshay Kumar said that the decision ultimately depends on the director. He explained that if director Aditya Dhar had thought he was right for the role, he would have been offered the film.
Akshay said he respects the choices made by filmmakers and understands that they select actors based on what suits their vision. Because of this, he does not hold any negative feelings about missing out on a role.
No Jealousy Between Actors In Bollywood
The actor also spoke about the relationship between actors in the film industry. Akshay Kumar said that sometimes actors feel that a certain role would have been interesting for them, but that does not mean they feel jealous of each other.
He mentioned that he often talks with Ranveer Singh, and both of them have shared moments where they wished they had done certain films. However, Akshay said these thoughts are natural and do not create insecurity.

He explained that there are many actors in the industry and a large number of films being made every year. Because of that, different actors get opportunities to work in different projects.

During the conversation, Akshay Kumar also spoke about the success of action films in recent times. He used Dhurandhar as an example of how audiences are enjoying high-energy action stories again.
Akshay praised Ranveer Singh’s performance in the film and said the actor carries the strong and intense image of an “angry young man” in the movie. According to him, the film’s action-packed style has been well received by audiences.
At the same time, Akshay pointed out that audience preferences keep changing. He said that at one time action films are popular, while at other times horror comedies or different genres become successful.
Dhurandhar 2 Set For Release Soon
The success of the first Dhurandhar film has led to the upcoming sequel Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, which is scheduled to release in theatres on March 19.
The film stars Ranveer Singh, along with Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt, who are returning to their roles in the sequel. The movie promises another intense action story with powerful performances.
