Actor R Madhavan has shared interesting insights ahead of the release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the sequel to Ranveer Singh’s hit spy-thriller Dhurandhar (2025). He observed that films based on India–Pakistan conflicts and freedom struggles have likely reached their conclusion. Madhavan highlighted that the younger audience no longer wants stories focused on old war themes.
Speaking to Sonia Shenoy for her YouTube channel, Madhavan said that the traditional era of India–Pakistan action films is coming to an end. He explained that younger viewers feel that they have seen such stories enough times, and the focus of cinema is now shifting toward fresh ideas and new kinds of storytelling.
UAE Fans Will Travel to India
Madhavan also spoke about the extraordinary craze for Dhurandhar in the UAE, where the film is banned. He mentioned that fans from Dubai flew to India just to watch the first film and then returned, underlining the power of good content. He expects a similar trend for Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which is set to release in theaters on March 19, 2026.
He added that some viewers are even planning business meetings around the release date, so they can watch the movie in a theater with a crowd. Madhavan emphasized the difference between watching a film alone at home and experiencing it with others in a cinema, comparing it to performing dandiya with people around rather than alone at home.
Release Details and Pan-India Strategy
Dhurandhar: The Revenge is directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar under Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The film is the direct sequel to Dhurandhar and concludes the two-part franchise.

R Madhavan insights show that Indian cinema is moving beyond repeated India–Pakistan conflict plots. Dhurandhar: The Revenge represents a new generation of spy-thrillers, where storytelling and audience engagement are driving box office appeal. The UAE audience’s commitment to watching the film in theaters demonstrates the growing importance of content quality over traditional war narratives.
