Producer Ekta Kapoor is all set to release her new film Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar. The film, a horror comedy directed by acclaimed filmmaker Priyadarshan, will debut on April 10, 2026. It is presented by Ekta’s production house, Balaji Motion Pictures, in association with Akshay Kumar’s banner Cape of Good Films.
Ekta Kapoor explained that the timing of the release was carefully chosen. She wanted Bhooth Bangla to come out after the blockbuster runs of Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, allowing families to enjoy a fresh type of entertainment during the holiday period after school exams.
Akshay Kumar’s Comeback with Priyadarshan
This film marks a reunion between Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after 14 years. Ekta Kapoor called the duo “soulmates” in filmmaking, highlighting their natural chemistry and understanding of comedy and entertainment. She revealed that when the script was presented to Akshay Kumar, he instantly agreed, emphasizing that Priyadarshan should direct the project. Priyadarshan made a few creative changes to the script, finalizing a story that promises laughter, thrills, and family-friendly entertainment.
Star-Studded Cast and Posthumous Appearance
Besides Akshay Kumar, Bhooth Bangla features an impressive lineup including Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, and Wamiqa Gabbi. The film also includes a posthumous appearance by veteran actor Asrani, who passed away in October 2025. Ekta Kapoor called the combination of Akshay, Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani “a deadly combination” when in Priyadarshan’s style of filmmaking, promising audiences plenty of laughs and memorable moments.

When asked if Bhooth Bangla could become a franchise, Ekta Kapoor stated that no plans have been made yet. She added that if the film succeeds, it could naturally lead to sequels, leaving the possibility open for future installments.
