Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of Bollywood actors Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor, recently spoke about the benefits of being born into a film family. The actress, who made her Bollywood debut in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan opposite Vikrant Massey in 2025, shared her experiences during a recent visit by filmmaker Farah Khan to her home.
Growing Up in a Film Family
During the vlog with Farah Khan, Shanaya revealed that having star parents helps her promote her films. She said, “It’s good to have a star mother and father because they help me promote the film.” Shanaya also recalled a funny incident when she realized fans sometimes confuse her with her mother.
She remembered visiting a theatre with her mother, Maheep Kapoor, to watch the film Marty Supreme. Shanaya thought fans were approaching her for pictures, but they were actually there for her mother. She said, “I was standing there with my phone and I saw a group of girls walking towards us. I was like, ‘Oh, they might want a photo with me.’ But they went straight to my mum saying, ‘We are such big fans of you.’” Farah Khan added humor to the story by noting that she has experienced similar situations where fans approach her staff instead of her.

Shanaya’s Bollywood Journey
Shanaya Kapoor made her debut with Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, directed by Santosh Singh. The film, in which she romanced Vikrant Massey, received mixed reviews from critics and struggled at the box office. Despite the film’s reception, Shanaya revealed that she did not take it to heart. She focused on her next project and continues to work hard to establish herself in the industry.
About the Film Tu Yaa Main
Shanaya Kapoor is now preparing for her next film, Tu Yaa Main, directed by Bejoy Nambiar. Produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma under Colour Yellow, along with Vinod and Kamlesh Bhanushali of Bhanushali Studios Limited, the film promises a fresh take on love and survival. Shanaya stars alongside Adarsh Gourav, and the film is set to release on February 13, 2026.
Tu Yaa Main will face competition at the box office from Shahid Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, and Avinash Tiwary’s O Romeo. Shanaya hopes this film will showcase her talent and help her carve a strong position in Bollywood.
