Despite the excitement, the film is currently facing a legal challenge. Eros International Media Limited has approached the Bombay High Court, claiming intellectual property violations. The company alleges that Tere Ishk Mein was pitched as a spiritual sequel to the 2013 film Raanjhanaa and unfairly used elements from the earlier movie.

Eros has sought ₹84 crore in damages and named Anand L Rai, Colour Yellow Media, T-Series, writer Himanshu Sharma, and Netflix in the case. The dispute mainly revolves around character similarities and promotional references that allegedly link the two films.

Anand L Rai, however, has downplayed the controversy, calling it a routine business dispute. He told NDTV, “Anyone can say anything about anything at any time. Since it’s a legal matter, I won’t speak much about it, but it’s nothing serious.”

Why Fans Are Excited

For audiences, the main appeal is the romantic story of Dhanush and Kriti Sanon. Even though the legal issue is ongoing, it hasn’t stopped viewers from wanting to watch the film. The OTT release makes it accessible to those who couldn’t see it in cinemas, ensuring that the love story reaches a wider audience.

The Bombay High Court will decide on the lawsuit, but until then, the film’s digital release is expected to go ahead as planned. Fans in India can mark January 23 in their calendars for Netflix streaming. Globally, viewers will also have the opportunity to enjoy the film once it is available on Netflix in other regions.

For now, all eyes are on Netflix, where Tere Ishk Mein promises to bring the same emotional highs from theaters directly to homes, making it a must-watch romantic drama this month.
