Chinese actor Wu Lei, also known as Leo Wu, recently faced a serious online threat. A netizen claimed to have private photos of the 26-year-old actor in bed and tried to sell them for 10,000 yuan (about S$1,800) per photo. The netizen, using the username Bai Shanshan_a, also made false accusations against Wu Lei, claiming he had done “illegal things” and asked about his activities on November 20, 2025.
Wu Lei Threatened by Netizen Selling Private Photos
After Wu Lei’s team blocked the original account, the netizen reportedly created a new account to continue spreading false information. The posts gained attention on Weibo and even appeared on the platform’s hot search list. This caused concern among fans and the actor’s studio, as such claims can harm both his personal reputation and professional career.
In response, Wu Lei’s studio released a statement on January 18, 2026. The statement called the allegations “baseless rumours” and confirmed that the company had hired lawyers to take legal action. They also warned media outlets and netizens who shared the false information to remove it immediately or face legal consequences. Wu Lei himself confirmed the legal steps in a post on his Weibo account, saying he did not know the netizen and had already hired a lawyer.
Wu Lei is a well-known actor who started his career as a child. He gained fame through popular Chinese dramas such as Nirvana In Fire (2015), The Long Ballad (2021), and Love Like the Galaxy (2022). He also starred in the 2024 dramas Amidst a Snowstorm of Love and Northwest Years. Fans have supported him during this difficult situation, expressing their trust in the actor and his team.
