The monologue became even more special when Finn’s Stranger Things co-stars Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin appeared on stage as a surprise. They joked together about no longer being kids and how strange it feels to be called “former child stars.” Gaten made fun of how headlines usually treat child actors, while Caleb joked about people on social media constantly commenting on how their faces and bodies have changed over the years.
Later in the show, SNL also made fun of Stranger Things itself. The show created funny fake spin-offs inspired by the 1990s. These included shows like “Mike in Manhattan” and “Strangerous Minds.” One sketch even retold the whole story from the point of view of Mike’s father. Kenan Thompson also appeared dressed as Eleven, holding her famous Eggo waffles, which got big laughs.
