Jack Neo Accidentally Fractures Jack Lim’s Ribs During Filming of Upcoming Liang Po Po CNY Movie

Jack Neo Injures Jack Lim Filming Liang Po Po Movie

Famous Singaporean director and actor Jack Neo had an accident while filming his upcoming Chinese New Year movie, Liang Po Po vs Ah Beng. For the first time in his career, Neo performed a wired action scene as an actor. During the scene, he accidentally kneed co-star Jack Lim in the ribs. Lim, who plays the security guard Ah Beng, ended up with two fractured ribs and a torn leg ligament. Despite the injury, Lim continued filming and completed his scenes.

Neo explained that the accident was not intentional. “When I was lifted into the air, I instinctively lifted my knees, like in the Thai action movie Ong Bak,” he said. Neo added that Lim came from the opposite side, and there was no way to avoid hitting him. Lim described the pain but said he thought it would be okay at first. After visiting the doctor, he learned about his fractured ribs and ligament injury, yet he remained determined to finish the movie.

The story of Liang Po Po vs Ah Beng is about Neo’s character, Liang Po Po, an elderly woman from Singapore, who goes to Malaysia to find work. She meets Ah Beng, a hot-headed security guard, and the two get into a feud. However, when Ah Beng’s adopted daughter is kidnapped by an organ trafficking gang, they join forces to rescue her. Together, they become heroes and are celebrated as the “strongest duo of Singapore and Malaysia.”

Despite the accident, Neo said he wanted to do his own stunts. He admired actors in Hong Kong and Taiwan who performed their stunts without doubles. Neo said the experience was enjoyable, even though he is usually a director. He also shared that filming as an actor felt very comfortable, with assistants, meals, and special care provided on set. He jokingly added that he might continue acting while directing in future projects.

Both Neo and Lim expressed that the film reflects a collaboration between Singapore and Malaysia. Neo hoped the movie would entertain audiences and also address sensitive topics between the two countries. Lim added that the film aims for a happy ending and shows that artists from both nations can work together successfully. Liang Po Po vs Ah Beng is set to release in Singapore cinemas on February 17, 2026.
