Mickey Rourke Launches Fundraiser After Eviction Threat

Hollywood actor Mickey Rourke is facing a serious financial crisis after receiving an eviction notice from his landlord. The 73-year-old star, known for his role in The Wrestler, has reportedly fallen behind on rent payments totaling nearly $60,000. To help cover the urgent housing costs, a fundraiser has been launched with Rourke’s full permission. The situation has shocked many fans who remember him as one of the biggest movie stars of the 1980s.

The GoFundMe page was created by Liya-Joelle Jones, a close friend and member of Rourke’s management team. The goal of the fundraiser is to raise $100,000 to help him pay overdue rent and legal expenses. As of now, more than $30,000 has already been donated. Jones explained that Rourke is going through a very difficult time and is deeply moved by the support he has received from fans and well-wishers.

According to reports, Rourke received a three-day eviction notice in late December after failing to meet the terms of his lease. Court documents show that he rented the Los Angeles home in March for $5,200 a month, which was later increased to $7,000. The landlord is now suing Rourke for unpaid rent, damages, and legal fees. The home also has historical value, as famous writer Raymond Chandler once lived there in the 1940s.

Mickey Rourke had a successful early career with popular films like 9½ Weeks, Diner, and Rumble Fish. However, he later stepped away from acting to pursue professional boxing, which affected his career and finances. He made a strong comeback in the 2000s with films like Sin City, Iron Man 2, and The Wrestler, which earned him an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe win.

In recent years, Rourke has faced controversy and personal struggles. He was removed from Celebrity Big Brother UK last year due to inappropriate behavior, which he later admitted and apologized for. Despite his fame and past success, his current situation shows that even well-known stars can face hardship. Supporters hope the fundraiser will help Rourke stay in his home and regain stability during this stressful chapter of his life.
