Director Rob Reiner and Wife Michele Singer Stabbed to Death Inside Their Los Angeles Home

Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, December 14, 2025, police said. The couple lived in a wealthy part of Los Angeles called Brentwood, where firefighters first responded to a call for help around 3:30 p.m. that afternoon. Emergency crews discovered two bodies inside the home with stab wounds, and the scene was later treated as a murder investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

Officials confirmed that the victims were 78-year-old Rob Reiner and 68-year-old Michele Singer Reiner. At first, firefighters did not know who the bodies belonged to, but later sources and family statements confirmed their identities. Police said there is no suspect in custody and they are still trying to understand exactly what happened. The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division is leading the ongoing investigation.

Rob Reiner was a famous figure in American film and television. He first became well-known as an actor on the popular 1970s sitcom “All in the Family.” Later, he directed many beloved movies, including “This Is Spinal Tap,” “When Harry Met Sally…,” “Stand by Me,” and “The Princess Bride.” He also co-founded Castle Rock Entertainment, a production company behind hit TV shows and films. 

Michele Singer Reiner was a photographer and producer. She worked in the creative world and supported many media and artistic projects. The couple married in 1989 and had three children together: sons Jake and Nick, and daughter Romy. Their family and friends have spoken of their deep bond and devotion to one another.
