The couple lived in a wealthy part of Los Angeles called Brentwood, where firefighters first responded to a call for help around 3:30 p.m. that afternoon. Emergency crews discovered two bodies inside the home with stab wounds, and the scene was later treated as a murder investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

Rob Reiner was a famous figure in American film and television. He first became well-known as an actor on the popular 1970s sitcom “All in the Family.” Later, he directed many beloved movies, including “This Is Spinal Tap,” “When Harry Met Sally…,” “Stand by Me,” and “The Princess Bride.” He also co-founded Castle Rock Entertainment, a production company behind hit TV shows and films.
Michele Singer Reiner was a photographer and producer. She worked in the creative world and supported many media and artistic projects.
