Sheinelle Jones, who is 47, has been part of NBC News for more than 11 years. She is well known to TODAY viewers for her work on the 3rd Hour of TODAY and for her engaging interviews and fun on-screen moments. Starting in January, she will step away from the 9 a.m. hour to focus fully on co-hosting the fourth hour. Meanwhile, Craig Melvin, Al Roker, and Dylan Dreyer will continue their roles on the 3rd Hour.
This new role is especially meaningful for Sheinelle after a very difficult year. She returned to work earlier in 2025 following the death of her husband, Uche Ojeh, who passed away from brain cancer. She has spoken openly about her grief and the challenge of building a “new normal” for herself and her children. Sheinelle shared that the first people she told about her new job were her kids, who filled their home with joy and celebration.
