Singaporean actor Leon Jay Williams has revealed that he has been diagnosed with stage 2 thyroid cancer. The 49-year-old actor, famous for his roles in Taiwanese dramas like La Robe De Mariee Des Cieux and Green Forest, My Home, shared the news with Taiwan’s Stars Udn publication. He first noticed lower back pain after a trip to Bali in July, which led him to visit a doctor. At first, no problems were found, but further tests revealed the presence of cancer.

After undergoing a full body check-up and MRI, doctors discovered a 3 cm malignant tumor in his thyroid gland. Leon underwent two surgeries in September to remove the tumor, as well as a smaller 1.1cm tumor. The procedures caused him to lose about 3kg, and doctors informed him that there is still a risk of the cancer spreading. Nodules were also found in his lungs, meaning he will need ongoing treatment and monthly medication to manage his condition.

To protect his family from potential radiation exposure during treatment, Leon is currently living alone. He is married and has a 10-year-old daughter. Despite the challenges, he is facing his diagnosis with a positive attitude. Leon stated, “I’ll get the treatment I need and continue doing what I normally do. That’s life.” He emphasized the importance of remaining strong for his family while focusing on his health.
Leon also shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, reflecting on the mental and physical struggles he faced over the past few months. He said that the thought of not being able to see his daughter grow up was one of his biggest fears. Additionally, he worried about his 85-year-old mother, who should not have to endure such stress. His priorities shifted from big ambitions, like traveling or directing films, to cherishing everyday moments with his loved ones.
