Whitney Leavitt, known from the reality series Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, is stepping into one of Broadway’s most famous roles. The 32-year-old star announced on Instagram that she will play Roxie Hart in the long-running musical Chicago. Her performances will take place at the Ambassador Theatre in New York City from February 2 to March 15. This marks a big moment in her career and shows how far she has come after her intense season on Dancing with the Stars.
Whitney Leavitt Cast as Roxie Hart in Chicago
Leavitt’s recent time on DWTS was full of both praise and controversy. Judges admired her strong dance technique, but she faced a large amount of online criticism. Much of this hate came from public reactions to her past behavior shown on earlier seasons of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Although she performed well, Leavitt was eliminated before the finale because she did not receive enough fan votes. The season’s winner was wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin, who took home the Mirrorball trophy.

After her elimination, Leavitt and her professional dance partner Mark Ballas performed one final routine on the podcast Call Her Daddy. During the episode, she talked about how painful it was to feel that the fanbase had turned against her. She shared that she expected the negativity because of her past media image and thought viewers might not support her. Despite this, she handled the pressure with honesty and resilience.
Her new Broadway role connects naturally to her DWTS experience. In the middle of the season, Leavitt and Ballas performed an Argentine Tango to “Cell Block Tango,” one of the most iconic moments from Chicago. Broadway has recently welcomed more celebrities from television and social media to help attract new audiences, and Leavitt now joins that growing list. She follows other well-known performers who previously played Roxie, including Erika Jayne, Lisa Rinna, Ariana Madix, and Melanie Griffith.
