Hong Kong pop singer Edan Lui is making his K-drama debut in the popular action series Taxi Driver 3. This marks an important milestone for Lui, who has been in the entertainment industry for seven years. Interestingly, this is also his first acting role entirely in English, which is not his first language. He worked with a teacher to improve his pronunciation and focus on fluency to perform naturally on screen.

Taxi Driver 3 follows the story of Kim Do-gi, a former special forces officer who works for Rainbow Taxi, a secret organization delivering justice to victims who cannot get help through the law. Edan plays Michael, an Interpol officer, who meets Do-gi in Japan while investigating a transnational case. Lui described his scenes with lead actor Lee Je-hoon as challenging, as the characters’ relationship changes from mistrust to mutual respect throughout the story. He explained that he had to adjust his acting approach on set according to the director’s instructions.

Edan praised Lee Je-hoon for his professionalism, noting that despite his long career, he remained dedicated and well-prepared for every scene. Lui also shared that the Korean production team was very efficient during filming in Japan, especially when adjusting lighting and managing scenes. This experience showed him how systematic and organized Korean productions are compared to Hong Kong’s.
Despite being nervous about performing in English, Edan focused on capturing the emotions of his character rather than perfect pronunciation. He also learned how flexible an actor must be, responding to co-actors and the director while keeping the character authentic. He highlighted that working with a professional team and experienced actors helped him improve as an actor.

Apart from acting, Edan shared his interest in visiting Singapore again. He enjoyed local food during his previous visit and hopes to perform or meet fans if he returns. Lui’s K-drama debut shows his versatility as both a singer and actor, and fans are excited to see him take on new challenges in his career.
