J-rock band Ryokuoushoku Shakai begin first Asia tour, hoping lifelong friendship stays unchanged

Japanese rock band Ryokuoushoku Shakai, also known as Ryokushaka, recently finished their first-ever Asia tour, a major milestone since their debut in 2012. The tour covered seven cities and nine shows, including their Singapore performance on November 9. After the concert, the four members Haruko Nagaya, Issei Kobayashi, Peppe, and Shingo Anami shared their feelings about the long-awaited tour and how it fits into their 13-year journey together.

Lead vocalist Haruko explained that even though the band could have toured Asia earlier, this timing felt perfect. They wanted to be fully prepared and proud of the experience. Guitarist Issei agreed, saying that in the beginning, their main focus was on Japan. Touring Asia now feels like a dream because fans from different countries have discovered their music and waited years to see them live. For the band, completing the tour without cancellations was already a big achievement, and they felt relieved and happy.

During their travels, the members had very busy schedules with performances and interviews, which left little time for sightseeing. Still, they enjoyed short walks, tried local food, and created new memories. In Singapore, they finally tasted authentic bak kut teh, a dish they had first tried together in Japan. Shingo even bought a bottle of dark soy sauce to take home, planning to use it in ramen. Peppe hoped to visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens, showing her love for World Heritage Sites.

The band also talked about their music and personal growth. Their new single My Answer, written by Haruko, has special meaning for each of them. They reflected on the lyrics, their favorite live performances, and the songs that shaped their early days. Despite growing older and becoming more experienced, the members feel their friendship has stayed the same. They still joke around backstage and support each other just like they did in high school.
