His interview gives fans a closer look into the challenges and rewards of working on one of television’s biggest shows.
Jamie Campbell Bower Reflects on Reading Final Script
Bower revealed that he had to read the finale script alone in his apartment because he had COVID at the time. While the cast gathered at the studio for a group reading, he joined through a screen from isolation. He said the moment felt “fitting” because the character Vecna often represents loneliness and separation. Even though he was physically distant, he could see how emotional the moment was for everyone. He thanked the creators, the Duffer Brothers, for changing so many lives through the series.

The actor also discussed the physical and mental effort required to play Vecna. Bower said he never fully “left” the character after Season 4 ended. He carried the character’s emotions and ideas with him even during the long break before filming Season 5. He explained that the role involves difficult makeup sessions, wirework, and emotionally intense scenes. One memory he shared was how challenging it was to film the scene where Vecna hangs in the attic. He kept swinging unexpectedly and had to be tied down more tightly to stay still.
In the interview, Bower also talked about his fans and how special their support has been. He said he often meets families who watch the show together, and this brings him great joy. According to him, knowing the show brings people closer is one of the greatest rewards of being part of Stranger Things. He also shared funny fan moments, including once receiving a mysterious wheel of cheese something he definitely did not eat.
