Music legend Smokey Robinson is facing more legal trouble as two new people have come forward with sexual assault allegations. The 85-year-old singer was already being sued by four former housekeepers. Now, two more alleged victims, one male and one female, have asked to join the existing US$50 million lawsuit. Both accusers say they experienced inappropriate and disturbing behaviour while working for Smokey and his wife, Frances Robinson, who has also been named in the complaint.
Smokey Robinson Faces Two New Assault Allegations
According to legal documents, the male accuser, known as John Doe 1, claims he started working for the couple in 2013. He says Smokey often approached him while wearing only underwear and acted in a sexually inappropriate way. He also alleges that one day, Smokey grabbed his hand and tried to force him to touch his private parts. After this incident, the man stopped working for the Robinsons. He says he briefly returned in 2023 at Frances’ request, but the behaviour continued, causing him emotional stress and fear.

The female accuser, identified as Jane Doe 5, says she worked as a housekeeper from 2005 to 2011. She claims that Smokey began sexually harassing her after returning from a work-related injury. According to her statement, he would call her into the bathroom while showering, ask her to scrub his back, and repeatedly try to force her to touch him. She also says he walked around the house naked and sometimes brushed against her intentionally. Her complaint adds that the constant harassment caused her so much distress that she underwent breast reduction surgery in 2015.
Both accusers also claim that Smokey’s wife, Frances, knew about the alleged behaviour but did not step in to help. Instead, they say she often yelled at them, blamed them for missing items, and used offensive language. Their attorney has praised the two new plaintiffs for having the courage to speak up and join the ongoing case. They say they plan to fight for justice on behalf of all the victims.

Smokey Robinson has strongly denied every accusation. His lawyer says the group of accusers is working together to damage Smokey’s reputation and extort money. He insists that the claims are false and part of a coordinated attempt to gain publicity. The case continues, and the court will decide the next steps as more information becomes available.
