Sheila Sim Shares Deep Regret Over Missing Her Brother’s Final Moments During His Illness

Local actress Sheila Sim recently opened up about one of the most painful memories of her life not being present at her younger brother’s deathbed. In the final episode of the CNA series The Assembly 2, she spoke honestly about her childhood, her family struggles, and the regret that still stays with her today. Her brother Cedear died of leukaemia at the young age of 14, and Sheila was only nine years old at the time.

Sheila Sim Regrets Missing Brother’s Final Moments

Sheila explained that as a child, she did not fully understand cancer or why she had to spend so much time in the hospital visiting her brother. When his condition worsened, she even donated her bone marrow to try to save him. However, as the hospital visits increased, she found herself wanting to escape the stressful environment. On the day her brother passed away, her parents asked someone to buy a pair of LA Gear shoes he loved, as part of preparing for his wake. Sheila immediately volunteered to go because she wanted to get out of the hospital for a while.

Tragically, when Sheila returned, her brother had already passed away. She tearfully shared that this moment remains her “biggest regret in life.” She wished she had been beside him during his last moments and wonders what he might have wanted to say to her. Even though someone told her he would have been honoured that she bought the shoes for him, she still deeply wished she could have said goodbye.

When asked what she would say to him now, Sheila shared heartfelt words. She would apologise for their childhood fights, tell him how brave he was throughout his battle with leukaemia, and express her love for him something she regrets not saying when he was healthy. She also remembered their difficult childhood, where their parents fought often, leaving her and her brother feeling scared and lonely. During those times, she said she was grateful to have her brother by her side.
