A shocking incident took place at the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good on Nov 13, 2025. Pop star Ariana Grande was grabbed by a man who jumped over the barricades during the event at Universal Studios Singapore. The intruder, identified as 26-year-old Australian Johnson Wen, caused panic on the yellow carpet. Videos of the incident quickly spread online, showing the moment the man rushed towards Ariana and put his arms around her.
Intruder Charged After Grabbing Ariana Grande Publicly
The next day, on Nov 14, Wen was charged in a Singapore district court for public nuisance. He appeared in court through video-link and said he planned to plead guilty. Although he represented himself, the court offered him bail of $2,000. If he cannot get someone to post bail for him, he will remain in remand. Even though the offence can lead to up to three months in jail or a fine of up to $2,000, he is not expected to receive a jail sentence, according to reports.

During the premiere, Ariana Grande was walking the carpet with Wicked co-stars Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum when the incident happened. Ariana was visibly shocked as the man grabbed her. Cynthia Erivo immediately stepped in, pushing the intruder away, while Michelle Yeoh held on to Ariana to protect her. Security reacted quickly and removed the man from the area before he could cause more harm.
It was later revealed that Wen is a “serial intruder” known for similar stunts. After the incident, he even posted on Instagram, bragging about what he did and sharing videos of himself at VivoCity, claiming he had already been released. His online behaviour drew criticism from the public, especially after he appeared proud of an action that put a celebrity and others in danger.
