The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2025 induction ceremony in Los Angeles was full of music, emotions, and powerful moments. Iconic hip-hop duo Salt-N-Pepa brought the audience to its feet with their energetic performance of “Push It.” Dressed in their classic tri-color leather jackets, the group celebrated their induction as musical influencers. Cheryl “Salt” James, Sandra “Pepa” Denton, and DJ Spinderella became the first female hip-hop group in the Hall. Salt proudly said, “This is for every woman who picked up a mic when they told her she couldn’t.”

Salt-N-Pepa performed a medley of their biggest hits, including “Shoop,” “Let’s Talk About Sex,” and “What a Man,” joined by En Vogue on stage. During her speech, Salt also spoke about their long battle to regain their master recordings, saying the music industry still needs to treat artists fairly. Their segment was a celebration of women’s strength and the lasting influence of female rappers in music history.
The night also honored the legendary duo Outkast. Although Andre 3000 and Big Boi did not perform together, both appeared on stage to thank fans and friends. Andre 3000 delivered a funny and emotional speech about their early days in a small Atlanta basement, while Big Boi performed several of their hits alongside guest stars like Janelle Monáe, Doja Cat, and Tyler, The Creator. Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) inducted them, calling them “two visionaries who turned their differences into a dynasty.”
Emotions ran deep during the tribute to Soundgarden and its late singer Chris Cornell, who passed away in 2017. Jim Carrey delivered a heartfelt speech remembering Cornell’s voice and spirit. Cornell’s daughters, Lilian and Toni, honored their father with emotional words and a soft performance of his song “Fell on Black Days.” Singers Taylor Momsen and Brandi Carlile also joined Soundgarden’s bandmates for powerful renditions of “Rusty Cage” and “Black Hole Sun.”
