Rapper Rod Wave was arrested in Fulton County, Georgia, on Friday, November 7, the same day he received his first Grammy nomination. According to public records, the 27-year-old artist, whose real name is Rodarius Green, was taken into custody by the Atlanta Police Department on multiple drug and weapon-related charges. The arrest came just hours after he was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Song Written for Visual Media for his hit track “Sinners” from the 2025 film of the same name.
Rod Wave Arrested Same Day as Grammy Nomination
Public records show that Rod Wave faced four charges, including possession of a firearm or knife during a felony, reckless driving, and two counts of possessing a controlled substance. Reports say that he was released from custody the next day, Saturday, November 8, after posting an $8,000 bond. His legal team told TMZ that the rapper’s arrest was unjust and the result of being “unlawfully profiled” by the Atlanta Police Department’s Crime Suppression Unit, which they claim focuses on arrest numbers instead of true public safety.
Rod Wave’s attorneys Drew Findling, Marissa Goldberg, and Zack Findling issued a joint statement saying that the rapper’s rights were violated and that his arrest was part of a “quota-driven approach.” His lawyer confirmed that Rod has already appeared in court and is now free while the case continues. Authorities have not yet made any official public statement regarding the arrest.
This is not Rod Wave’s first encounter with the law. He was previously arrested in May 2025 on 14 charges, including aggravated assault and conspiracy, and again in June 2025 for battery. Despite these legal troubles, Rod Wave has remained one of the most popular figures in hip-hop, known for his emotional lyrics and soulful sound that connect deeply with his fans.
Rod Wave’s Grammy nomination marks a major career milestone, celebrating his artistic achievements despite recent controversies. The rapper is also preparing for his “Redemption Experience Tour,” which is scheduled to begin on December 7, 2025, in Los Angeles. Fans are hopeful that he will move past his legal issues and continue to create the heartfelt music that made him one of rap’s most respected voices.
