Netflix has released the first look of its upcoming war drama series Operation Safed Sagar, which is inspired by the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) real-life mission during the Kargil War. The series stars Jimmy Shergill and Siddharth in lead roles, with Abhay Verma, Mihir Ahuja, and Taaruk Raina in key supporting parts. The announcement was made during the inaugural Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon (SIM-25) in New Delhi.
Netflix Reveals First Look of Operation Safed Sagar
The first-look video opens with a powerful narration by Siddharth, saying, “No squadron in the history of the Indian Air Force has ever done such a mission. We are the select few.” The video then shows the IAF pilots preparing for a high-risk mission amid the snow-covered mountains of Kargil. Jimmy Shergill’s character delivers an inspiring line: “Pakistanis think they can do anything sitting on top, but they are wrong. Now, we will either make history or become one.”
Operation Safed Sagar highlights the courage, discipline, and determination of Indian Air Force pilots who risked their lives in one of the most daring operations in military history. Created by Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Kushal Srivastava and directed by Oni Sen, the series aims to showcase the emotions and challenges faced by real-life heroes during the 1999 Kargil War. The cast also features Arnav Bhasin in an important role.

Produced by Matchbox Shots and Feel Good Films in collaboration with the Indian Air Force, the series was shot across real operational air bases. The makers have also used authentic MiG aircraft and included actual IAF personnel to make the storytelling more realistic. Netflix described it as “the world’s highest air operation in history” in its announcement post.

Though Netflix has not yet revealed the official release date, Operation Safed Sagar is expected to premiere in 2026. With a strong star cast, gripping storyline, and patriotic theme, the series promises to be an emotional tribute to the bravery of Indian Air Force officers who fought fearlessly to defend the nation. It is one of Netflix’s most anticipated Indian projects, expected to bring viewers closer to the valor and sacrifice of the country’s real heroes.
