Central security agencies are reportedly assessing a possible threat to Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan after his recent interaction with singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh on the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 17. According to reports, officials are taking the matter seriously after receiving alerts related to threats issued by the separatist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ).
Amitabh Bachchan Faces Threat After KBC Episode
The controversy began when Diljit Dosanjh appeared as a celebrity guest on the show and was seen touching Amitabh Bachchan’s feet as a gesture of respect. However, this act was condemned by SFJ, whose leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun accused Diljit of “dishonouring Sikh victims” of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots by showing respect to Bachchan. The group claimed that Amitabh’s name had been linked to inflammatory remarks made during that period, a charge the actor has always denied.

In a statement, SFJ said, “By touching the feet of Bachchan, the man whose words orchestrated genocide, Diljit Dosanjh has insulted every widow, orphan, and victim of the 1984 Sikh genocide.” Following these remarks, security officials reportedly began reviewing potential threats not only against Amitabh Bachchan but also against Diljit Dosanjh. Media reports suggest that SFJ has issued a threat to Diljit ahead of his concert in Melbourne, Australia, scheduled for November 1.
At the time of the reports, neither Amitabh Bachchan nor Diljit Dosanjh had released any official statement regarding the controversy or the threats. The episode featuring Diljit is set to air on October 31 at 9 pm on Sony Entertainment Television and will also stream on SonyLIV. Despite the tension, the show’s promotions have continued as planned.
