A BJP leader from Ayodhya has filed a complaint against the upcoming Hindi movie The Taj Story, starring veteran actor Paresh Rawal. The leader, Rajneesh Singh, has approached the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), requesting a ban on the film’s release. He claims that the movie is based on a petition he filed in 2022 regarding the Taj Mahal and that the filmmakers used his ideas without permission.
BJP Leader Complains Against Paresh Rawal’s Film
In 2022, Rajneesh Singh filed a petition in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court. The petition sought the opening of 22 closed rooms inside the Taj Mahal to verify claims that the monument was originally a Hindu temple. However, the High Court dismissed the petition in May 2022, saying that it was not a matter for the court to investigate. Now, Singh alleges that The Taj Story uses the same theme as his petition, turning a serious legal matter into commercial entertainment.
In his recent complaint, Singh stated that the film’s posters and promotional materials make clear references to his petition and the court case. He argued that this violates his intellectual property rights and misrepresents the judicial subject. He also said that such a portrayal could create confusion among the public and disturb social harmony, as it deals with a sensitive historical and religious topic.

Rajneesh Singh further requested that the authorities stop the film’s certification and release until a proper investigation is completed. He said the movie’s story and script should be reviewed to check if any parts of his original petition or ideas were copied without consent. Singh believes that releasing the film without clarification might affect the judicial process and hurt public sentiments.

The Taj Story is a courtroom drama written and directed by Tushar Amrish Goel. The film stars Paresh Rawal, Zakir Hussain, Amruta Khanvilkar, Namit Das, and Sneha Wagh in key roles. It aims to explore historical debates surrounding the Taj Mahal through a fictional legal case. However, the controversy around it has already created strong discussions on social media, as audiences wait to see how the filmmakers handle such a sensitive subject.
