Ravi Mohan faces setback as Delhi High Court restrains him from using ‘Bro Code’ film title

Actor and filmmaker Ravi Mohan has faced a major legal setback over his upcoming film titled Bro Code. The Delhi High Court has stopped him and his production house, Ravi Mohan Studios, from using or promoting the movie under this title. The court’s order came after a trademark infringement case was filed by Indospirit Beverages, the company that owns the popular alcoholic drink brand BroCode.

Delhi HC restrains Ravi Mohan over ‘Bro Code’ title

According to the court, the beverage brand BroCode has been in the market since 2015 and is widely recognized among consumers. The judges stated that using the same name for a movie could confuse the public and harm the company’s reputation. Indospirit also claimed that the trademark for BroCode is legally registered in multiple categories. The company argued that the film’s title was identical to their brand name and that it might mislead customers into believing the movie was connected to them.

Ravi Mohan’s legal team argued that they had already received a favorable order from the Madras High Court, which had ruled in their favor earlier this month. However, the Delhi High Court disagreed and clarified that once an infringement case is filed, earlier orders in other courts cannot stop a new injunction. Therefore, until the case is resolved, Ravi Mohan and his team are barred from using or promoting the title ‘Bro Code’ for the movie.

Indospirit Beverages further explained that their BroCode brand had grown beyond beverages. They launched a YouTube series called “BroCode Roast” and even a music video titled “BroCode: Onam Ulsavam Song”, which gained over 200 million views. The company claimed that Ravi Mohan’s film title would create unnecessary confusion among fans and viewers. Despite being sent cease-and-desist notices, the filmmakers allegedly continued promoting the movie.

The next court hearing is scheduled for December 23, 2025, and Ravi Mohan Studios has been given four weeks to respond. Meanwhile, the actor continues to work on his projects, including An Ordinary Man and Bro Code, which stars Arjun Ashokan, SJ Suryah, Shraddha Srinath, and others. However, the future of the film’s title now depends on the court’s final decision.
