Celebrity chef Ranveer Brar, known for his charming smile and inspiring presence on MasterChef India, recently shared the emotional story of his tough journey to success. In a conversation on the Ranveer Allahbadia Podcast, Brar revealed that before becoming a famous chef, he went through one of the hardest phases of his life being homeless in the United States.
Ranveer Brar Shares His Inspiring Struggle Story
Brar explained that while people see the glamorous side of chefs on television, they often don’t realize the years of struggle behind that success. He said that in India, people admire the “final product” but forget the difficult journey that shapes it. “We all see the success stories,” Brar said, “but we must also talk about the failures and learning behind them.”
Sharing one of the darkest moments of his career, Brar recalled how his restaurant in Boston shut down after a fallout with his business partners. Overnight, he lost everything and had no place to go. He spent several days sleeping on benches and living with uncertainty. Looking back, he considers that phase a turning point. “It taught me not to take myself too seriously,” he said. “Even though it was tough, I learned a lot from it.”

Today, even after achieving fame, Brar follows simple habits to stay humble. He shared that he tries to take an auto-rickshaw ride every day to remind himself of his roots. This small act keeps him connected to ordinary life.
Brar also mentioned the most important advice he ever received from his grandfather. “Whenever you feel like a big landlord,” his grandfather told him, “look at the land. It will give only if you work hard; otherwise, it can take everything away.” This message, Brar said, keeps him grounded and grateful.

He added that his parents are his “zameen” (ground), the people who remind him where he came from. “Whenever I start feeling too proud,” he smiled, “I look at my parents, and everything feels balanced again.” Ranveer Brar’s story is a reminder that true success is not just about fame or wealth, it’s about staying humble, learning from failures, and never forgetting one’s roots.
