With 3 Flops in 2025, Janhvi Kapoor’s Only Hit Remains Seven Years Old, SSKTK Star Struggles

Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor, who made her debut in 2018 with Karan Johar’s Dhadak, is facing a challenging phase in her career. Her debut film, co-starring Ishaan Khatter, was a box office hit, but since then, she has struggled to replicate that success. Over the years, several of her films failed to perform well, and 2025 turned out to be especially tough for the actress.

Janhvi Kapoor Faces Struggles After Three Flops

This year, Janhvi Kapoor starred in three films within two months: Param Sundari, Homebound, and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. Despite high expectations, all three films underperformed at the box office. Param Sundari, a romantic comedy directed by Tushar Jalota, had Janhvi acting alongside Sidharth Malhotra. The film opened decently but could not maintain momentum, earning ₹53.07 crore domestically on a budget of ₹60 crore.

Her second release, Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, was a social drama that received critical acclaim and became India’s official entry for the Oscars. However, despite its accolades, the film only earned around ₹3 crore at the box office.

The third film, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, directed by Shashank Khaitan, is a rom-com co-starring Varun Dhawan. It is currently running in theatres but is struggling to attract audiences. With a reported budget of ₹80 crore, the film made around ₹40 crore in its first week and may not reach the ₹60 crore mark.

For Janhvi Kapoor, this means that her only hit in the last seven years remains Dhadak, which launched her career on a high note. However, there is hope for the actress from the South Indian film industry. Last year, she made her Telugu debut with Devara Part One, starring Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan, which grossed around ₹410 crore worldwide, becoming her highest-grossing film to date.

Looking ahead, Janhvi will star in the Telugu film Peddi, alongside Ram Charan, set to release on March 27, 2026. Industry experts believe this film could bring her a much-needed success and revive her Bollywood and South cinema journey.
