Alia Bhatt Wins Best Actress, Faces Criticism
One of the biggest highlights of the night was Alia Bhatt winning the Best Actress Award for her film Jigra. However, her victory became a topic of heated debate on social media. Many netizens questioned why Alia did not attend the ceremony, as Karan Johar accepted the award on her behalf. While some praised her performance, others criticized the decision, calling it “predictable” and “unfair.”
A few social media users felt that Alia’s constant wins make her appear “favoured” by the industry. One user commented, “Ahh, the Alia award goes to Alia. Meanwhile, Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, dominated the night by winning 13 awards, including Best Film and Best Director. The movie also earned awards for Best Screenplay, Best Music Album, and Best Supporting Actors. Abhishek Bachchan and Kartik Aaryan shared the Best Actor (Male) award for I Want To Talk and Chandu Champion.
