Authorities in Karnataka have sealed the studio where the popular reality show Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 was being filmed. The action was taken by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) for not following environmental laws and operating without the required permissions.
Bigg Boss Kannada Studio Sealed for Violations
The Jollywood Studios and Adventures, located in Bidadi near Bengaluru, was shut down late Tuesday night. The Bigg Boss house, built at a cost of over ₹5 crore, has now been locked. Around 700 people working for the show, including technical staff, had to leave the premises. The contestants were escorted out and shifted to a nearby resort for safety and accommodation.
According to officials, the studio did not have proper permissions under the Water and Air Acts, which are necessary to run such large operations. Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre confirmed that repeated notices had been issued to the studio, but the management continued their work without addressing the violations. He stated that “no one is above the law” and strict action would be taken according to legal provisions.

The closure order also directed the power company (Bescom) to disconnect electricity to the studio until further notice. The decision was made under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, as the studio failed to meet pollution control standards.
Season 12 of Bigg Boss Kannada was hosted by popular actor Kichcha Sudeep. The show’s new set had been designed like a grand palace, marking one of the biggest production setups in the show’s history.

Officials said that despite earlier warnings, the studio continued operating, which amounted to violating orders from both the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The authorities emphasized that while the makers of Bigg Boss can appeal in court, the law must be followed by everyone equally.
