Twinkle Khanna recently shared a funny and surprising story about how she was once called the “illegitimate daughter” of the late actor Rishi Kapoor. She revealed this during an episode of the new Prime Video reality show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, where she co-hosts with Kajol.
Twinkle Khanna Mistakenly Called Rishi’s Daughter
The story goes back to Rishi Kapoor’s birthday tweet for Twinkle. In the tweet, he wrote, “Happy Happy Birthday dear one! You were in your mum’s tummy when I was serenading her in Bobby in 1973 lol.” While the tweet was meant as a playful birthday wish, it caused confusion among fans. Many mistakenly thought that Twinkle was Rishi Kapoor’s daughter.
To clarify the misunderstanding, Rishi Kapoor later explained that the timing of his movie Bobby and Twinkle’s birth had nothing to do with the rumor. He explained that Twinkle’s mother, Dimple Kapadia, was three months pregnant when a song in the movie was being shot. He also shared the timeline of his marriage with Dimple and the movie’s release, which cleared the confusion.
Twinkle Khanna recalled the incident with humor, saying that Kajol and her guests, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, laughed a lot at the story. She jokingly told Alia, “I am not your sister-in-law, it was a mistake.” Varun also joined in the fun, noting that Twinkle’s story left everyone unsure how to react.
The episode also included Alia Bhatt talking about her daughter Raha, who she says resembles Rishi Kapoor in some ways. Alia shared that people often say Raha is a mix of herself and Rishi Kapoor, and they can see some of Rishi’s energy in her from time to time.
