Kannada actor Darshan, currently lodged in Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, appeared before a city court on Tuesday with an unusual request. He asked to be transferred to Ballari jail, claiming health issues and lack of sunlight during his confinement. However, the court rejected his plea, leading to a dramatic moment in the hearing.
Court Rejects Darshan’s Transfer, Allows Basic Facilities
According to reports, Darshan told the judge that he had been suffering from a fungal infection on his hands and had not seen the sun for 30 days. After his transfer request was turned down, he said in frustration, “Just poison me, please pass this order.” The judge immediately warned him not to repeat such remarks and reminded him of court decorum.
Darshan is one of the main accused in the Renukaswamy murder case. The victim, a 33-year-old man, was reportedly abducted and tortured after allegedly sending inappropriate messages to actress Pavithra Gowda, a close associate of Darshan. Along with Pavithra and several others, Darshan is facing trial in this high-profile case.

While rejecting the transfer request, the court allowed Darshan some concessions within the prison. He was permitted to walk inside the jail premises and was granted basic facilities such as an additional bed, pillow, and bedsheet. However, the judge made it clear that all these arrangements must follow the prison manual. The Inspector General of Prisons was also given authority to take disciplinary action if Darshan violated any rules.

The actor’s comments and the court’s strong response have drawn public attention once again to the case. Many of his fans have expressed concern over his health, while others believe the trial should proceed without any special treatment.
For now, Darshan remains in Parappana Agrahara jail, awaiting the next steps in the legal process. The court’s order ensures that his basic needs are met, but it has also underlined that no inmate, regardless of fame, can bypass prison regulations.
