Kalyani Priyadarshan comes from one of South India’s most respected film families. She is the daughter of filmmaker Priyadarshan and actress Lissy Lakshmi. Despite her film background, Kalyani initially chose a different career path. She studied architecture at the Parsons School of Design in New York, one of the most prestigious institutions in the world. While studying, she also explored theatre, which eventually sparked her interest in acting.
Interestingly, her parents were not keen on her joining the film industry. Having seen the challenges of cinema firsthand, they wanted her to choose a less demanding career. However, Kalyani’s passion for acting won in the end, and she entered the industry on her own terms.
Kalyani Priyadarshan made her acting debut in 2017 with the Telugu film Hello. Her performance was well received, and she even won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Since then, she has acted in several successful projects across languages, including Tamil films like Hero and Maanaadu, and Malayalam films such as Hridayam, Thallumaala, and Bro Daddy.
