Guru Randhawa Responds to Azul Song Backlash
In his post, Guru wrote, “Jado mein sab nu khush karn lagga, dukhi ho gya. Ajj mein khud khush hann, sab dukhi ho gaye,” which means, “When I tried to make everyone happy, I was sad. Today, when I am happy, everyone else is sad.” He also added a heart emoji, indicating his gratitude to God and his focus on personal happiness.
Earlier, Guru had posted another note thanking God for the song trending online. He wrote, “Azul is Azuling. When God is with you, you only move forward,” accompanied by wine glass and heart emojis. Despite the backlash, he has not issued a formal statement addressing the controversy.

The music video of Azul features Guru Randhawa as a photography teacher visiting a girls’ school. Actor Anshika Pandey plays a student who performs a dance sequence, which leaves Guru’s character mesmerized. Guru wrote and composed the song, with additional lyrics by Gurjit Gill. Critics argue that the song’s theme and visuals are inappropriate and raise ethical concerns.

Azul is not the first song of Guru Randhawa to face criticism. His previous track, Sirra, also drew objections. A complaint filed against Sirra in court claims that certain lyrics promote drug use and defame the Jatt community. The court has asked Guru to appear either in person or through a lawyer for examination regarding the complaint.
