Guru Randhawa Faces Heavy Criticism For Azul Video And Court Summons Over Sirra Lyrics

Popular Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa, known for hit tracks like Lahore and High Rated Gabru, is facing strong criticism for his latest music video Azul. The video has sparked a major debate on social media, with many accusing the singer of promoting harmful and inappropriate content.

Guru Randhawa Criticised For Azul Video, Sirra Lyrics

In Azul, Guru Randhawa plays the role of a photographer inside an all-girls school. The scenes show him being attracted to schoolgirls, which viewers felt was disturbing and disrespectful. Critics on social media called the video an attempt to romanticize predatory behavior and objectify minors. Many users wrote that such portrayals are not entertainment but a way of normalizing unhealthy behavior in society.

The controversy does not end there. In a separate case, Randhawa has also been summoned by a Samrala court regarding another song titled Sirra. The court raised objections over a line from the track that mentions giving opium to newborns, saying it promotes drug use. The singer has been asked to appear before the court on September 2.

Several internet users expressed their anger openly. One user wrote that objectifying women and schoolgirls cannot be called music, while another said it was shocking to see such content being glamorized. A few even highlighted that Randhawa restricted comments on his Instagram after receiving criticism, which made people more upset.

Fans and critics also pointed out the larger cultural impact of such songs. They argued that artists with wide influence should be more responsible with the content they release. Many women shared how they had already faced harassment growing up, and that videos like Azul only add to the problem by making predatory behavior look normal or even “cool.”

So far, Guru Randhawa has not released any official statement on either the backlash over Azul or the court case related to Sirra. The controversy has started wider conversations about morality, accountability, and the need for stricter content guidelines in the Punjabi music industry.
