Netflix is set to release a new Hindi movie titled Inspector Zende on September 5, 2025. The film is inspired by the life and achievements of Mumbai’s famous police officer Madhukar Zende, who became well known for his fearless investigations and sharp intelligence.
Manoj Bajpayee Shines as Supercop in Inspector Zende
The movie is directed by Chinmay D Mandlekar and stars Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role as Inspector Zende. Manoj, who is loved for his powerful acting in films and series like The Family Man and Gangs of Wasseypur, is expected to bring the larger-than-life cop to the screen with his usual intensity.

The story focuses on Zende’s pursuit of the notorious criminal Charles Sobhraj, who was half-Indian and half-Vietnamese. In the film, the character is renamed Carl Bhojraj, played by Jim Sarbh, possibly to avoid legal issues. Sobhraj, often called “The Serpent,” was infamous for his clever tricks and shocking crimes across Asia. Zende’s daring capture of such a dangerous man made him one of India’s most respected police officers.

Along with Manoj Bajpayee and Sarbh, the movie also features well-known actors like Sachin Khedekar, Bhalchandra Kadam, Girija Oak, and Harish Dudhade in important roles. The makers promise an engaging mix of crime, drama, and suspense that will keep viewers hooked till the end.
The character of Zende is already popular in public memory. His adventures were earlier shown in the 2023 documentary Zende and in his memoir Mumbai’s Most Wanted: The Thrilling Case Files of a Supercop.
