Speaking to Humans of Bombay, Dhanashree Verma opened up about how difficult the day was for her. Even though she had prepared herself mentally, she admitted that she could not control her emotions in court and ended up crying uncontrollably. She recalled that Chahal walked out first, while she quietly left through the back gate to avoid the cameras. Sitting in her car, still shaking from the emotional strain, she saw the pictures of Chahal’s T-shirt go viral online.

Dhanashree Verma confessed that she was shocked by Chahal’s choice of clothing and his explanation. Responding with a mix of hurt and humour, she said, “Are bhai, WhatsApp kar deta. T-shirt kyu pehna hai?” (You could have just sent me a WhatsApp message, why wear a T-shirt?). She also admitted that she knew people would blame her for the separation no matter what.
Despite the public drama, Dhanashree Verma said she wanted to handle the situation with dignity. She explained that divorce is painful and should not be treated as entertainment. “I don’t want to disrupt my family values or his family values. We have to keep respect intact,” she said. According to her, even in tough times like divorce, maturity is more important than unnecessary drama.

Reflecting on the pressures women face, Dhanashree said society often expects women to “hold it together” and sacrifice for marriage. But she believes how a person behaves during such moments shows their true character. She has now chosen to move forward without looking back.
Dhanashree Verma and Chahal married in 2020 but officially ended their marriage in 2025. While Chahal’s T-shirt became a talking point, Dhanashree’s calm and dignified response has earned respect from many.
