The recently released film Udaipur Files, starring actor Vijay Raaz, has failed to perform at the box office. Released on August 8, 2025, the film has managed to earn only around ₹1.54 crore so far. Trade experts have already declared it a flop, and its theatre run is expected to end soon as big-budget films like Saiyaara, War 2, and Coolie dominate the screens.
Udaipur Files Producer Slams Hindu Audience
The film’s producer Amit Jani expressed his disappointment openly. He criticized Hindu audiences for not supporting the film, which was based on the real-life story of Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor from Udaipur who was murdered in 2022. Jani claimed that people ignored the film that highlighted a sensitive social issue but spent money on glamour-filled films like Saiyaara and star-driven blockbusters such as War 2 and Coolie.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Jani wrote that “Jihaad has defeated the efforts for justice for Kanhaiya Lal.” He also shared a video message, saying sarcastically that there was “good news for Muslims” because Udaipur Files would soon be removed from theatres due to poor collections.
According to Jani, the audience quickly made Saiyaara a hit despite what he described as “promotion of nudity and obscenity.” He further complained that viewers were ready to spend crores on action spectacles like Hrithik Roshan’s War 2 and Rajinikanth’s Coolie, while refusing to give a chance to Udaipur Files.

The producer also revealed that the film’s poor performance will cause him a financial loss of around ₹10–12 crore. He said he made the movie with genuine intent to present the truth about Kanhaiya Lal’s story but is now left heartbroken because of the lack of audience support.
With collections stuck at ₹1.54 crore, Udaipur Files has been labeled a box office disaster. Theatres are expected to stop screening it soon. Meanwhile, big releases continue to draw huge crowds, leaving the Vijay Raaz starrer struggling for attention.
