The advance booking for the much-awaited Bollywood film War 2 has officially started in India. The film, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, has already earned more than ₹2 crore on the first day of ticket sales. This is a promising start even though there are fewer Telugu shows available compared to Hindi and Tamil.
War 2 Advance Booking Hits ₹2 Crore Day One
War 2 is set to release in theaters on August 14, 2025. Hrithik Roshan announced the opening of advance bookings on his social media and encouraged fans to book their tickets early. According to Sacnilk.com, by 9 pm on the first day, the film earned around ₹2.24 crore from about 9,000 Hindi shows and 215 shows combined in Tamil and Telugu. The number of Telugu shows is less than expected, even though Jr NTR is a very popular Telugu actor.

Besides regular bookings, theaters have also reserved many “block seats” for special promotions and spot bookings. Including these, the total advance booking amount is estimated to be close to ₹7.6 crore.
However, War 2 faces tough competition at the box office from Rajinikanth’s film Coolie, which is also releasing on the same day. Both films are expected to draw large audiences, making the clash an interesting one to watch.

International advance booking opened earlier, but the response was not as strong, especially for the Hindi version in the US. Many theaters screening the Hindi pre-release shows had very low ticket sales.
In War 2, Hrithik Roshan plays Kabir, a rogue R&AW agent, and faces a new villain played by Jr NTR. The film also introduces Kiara Advani as Hrithik’s new love interest, replacing Vaani Kapoor from the earlier film. Hrithik praised Jr NTR’s dedication and professionalism during filming.
Directed by Ayan Mukherji, War 2 is part of the popular Yash Raj Films Spy Universe, which includes films like Tiger, Pathaan, and the upcoming Alpha starring Alia Bhatt.
