Tollywood, the Telugu film industry, is celebrating a proud moment. At the 71st National Film Awards, announced on August 1, 2025, Telugu cinema won seven major awards. These awards are a big achievement and show how Telugu films are winning both hearts and respect across India.
Tollywood Wins 7 Awards at National Film Awards
One of the most emotional wins was for the film Balagam, which got the award for Best Lyricist. The song ‘Ooru Palleturu’ was written by Kasarla Shyam and touched the hearts of many. Producer Dil Raju, who supported the film, said that the song reached from the villages of Telangana to Delhi. He shared how the team did village-level promotions and free screenings to connect with common people. He called the award “rare and special.”
Another big winner was Bhagavanth Kesari, which was named Best Telugu Feature Film. Starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, the movie impressed the jury with its strong story and local connect.
The superhero film Hanu-Man also stood out. It won two awards Best Action Direction and Best Film in AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics). Its director Prashanth Varma was praised for creating high-quality visual effects on a limited budget.
The film Baby was another star. It won Best Screenplay (shared with Tamil film Parking) and Best Male Playback Singer for PVNS Rohit, who sang the hit song ‘Premisthunna’. Also, the young actress Sukriti Veni Bandreddi won Best Child Artist for her role in Gandhi Thatha Chetu.
Producer Raj Kandukuri, who once served on the National Awards jury, said this year’s winners showed great variety. From rural stories to superhero films, every genre was represented. He also praised the fact that these films were both critically appreciated and commercially successful.
