Superstar Rajinikanth recently attended the audio and trailer launch of his upcoming film Coolie in Chennai at the Nehru Indoor Stadium on August 2. The event was filled with laughter, emotions, and exciting moments for fans. Rajinikanth, known for his fun and thoughtful speeches, once again won everyone’s hearts.

During the event, Rajinikanth shared a funny story about how he called director Lokesh Kanagaraj after watching Kaithi. He joked, “I wanted to meet him before other actors did. When I called, he said he’s a fan of Kamal Haasan. I asked, ‘Did I ask you that?’” The audience laughed loudly at this moment. Rajinikanth also teased Lokesh about his long interviews during promotions, saying even after taking a nap, the interview was still not over! Despite the jokes, he praised Lokesh and called him the true hero of Coolie.

Coolie is an action film starring Rajinikanth as “Deva,” a tough coolie worker. From the trailer, it looks like a powerful role filled with action and emotions. Rajinikanth also shared a personal memory from his own life. He told the audience that before becoming a bus conductor, he once worked as a coolie. He remembered how one of his old classmates mocked him when he saw him doing that job. This painful moment made him cry for the first time in his life.

The film also features stars like Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan. Bollywood actor Aamir Khan will appear in a special cameo. Coolie is set to release in theatres on August 14.

Interestingly, the film has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Censor Board, making it the first Rajinikanth film in 36 years to be given an adult rating. The movie is produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures and is not part of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s cinematic universe. Fans are now eagerly waiting to see if Coolie will bring back the magic of Tamil mass cinema in 2025.
