In the early stages of the project, the director had narrated the story to Ram Charan. The actor was busy shooting for Acharya and RRR at that time. He liked the script and even announced the film officially in 2021. But due to unknown reasons, the project was shelved in 2022.
Later, Gowtam Tinnanuri approached Vijay Deverakonda with the same script. Vijay liked it and agreed to do the film. Now, Kingdom is one of the most awaited movies of the year. The makers have also confirmed that the film will be released in two parts.

The movie stars Bhagyashri Borse, Satyadev, and Manish Chaudhary in key roles. Interestingly, for the Hindi version, titled Saamrajya, Ranbir Kapoor has given a voice-over. This shows how big the makers want the film to be across India.
