Hombale Films, known for hit films like K.G.F and Kantara, is now working on its biggest film ever Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1. This upcoming movie is a prequel to the original Kantara and promises to be more powerful, emotional, and grand than before.

The first Kantara, released in 2022, was a surprise blockbuster. Made on a small budget, it earned over $50 million and became a cultural phenomenon across India. Rishab Shetty, the writer, director, and lead actor of the first film, returns with the same roles for Chapter 1.

Producer Vijay Kiragandur from Hombale Films shared that the new film is very special to them. To bring Rishab’s vision to life, they even built a new film studio. They couldn’t find any existing location big enough for the grand palace sets, so they created their own. This gave the team full creative freedom and made the shooting smoother and more controlled.
The story of Chapter 1 will go deeper into the spiritual and mythological world that fans loved in the first part. It will also explore important issues like land, nature, and cultural heritage themes that are close to the hearts of the creators.

Kiragandur said that this film is not just about entertainment; it’s about preserving Indian traditions and stories. Instead of working on many projects at once, the entire team focused only on Kantara: Chapter 1 to make sure it turns out perfect.
Though Hombale Films is also working on big movies like Salaar: Part 2, their top priority has been Kantara: Chapter 1. They want it to be a film that the current and future generations can feel proud of.
The movie will be released in multiple languages Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, and English on October 2, 2025. According to the makers, the film will not just impress viewers with its scale, but also touch their hearts with its soul.
