Filipina singer Sophia Laforteza, a member of the global girl group KATSEYE, recently received a very special gift: her own custom Manananggal doll from Monster High, the famous doll brand by Mattel. The surprise came as part of KATSEYE’s exciting collaboration with Monster High.

Monster High is a fashion doll line known for its unique characters based on monsters like Dracula and Frankenstein. For this collaboration, each KATSEYE member got their own personalized doll, and Sophia’s doll was inspired by the Manananggal, a mythical creature from Filipino folklore.
Sophia Laforteza was deeply emotional and happy about this moment. On her Instagram, she shared pictures of her doll and wrote how much Monster High meant to her as a child. “Monster High was a big part of my childhood,” she said. “Now, having my own doll and representing my culture means so much to me.”

Along with the dolls, KATSEYE also recorded a remix of Monster High’s popular 2010 song, “Fright Song.” Sophia excitedly wrote, “I still can’t believe that’s us on the ‘Fright Song’ I’ve been singing my whole life.”
In an interview, Sophia shared that as a child, all she ever wanted for birthdays were Monster High dolls. She had many, including Draculaura and a special Frankie edition. She said it was a dream come true to now work with the brand she loved so much.

Sophia also spoke proudly about representing the Philippines on the world stage. In a Teen Vogue interview, she said, “I want to be someone who never hides that I’m Filipino. I want to be loud and proud about my culture and heritage.”
