Telugu cinema fans may soon witness a big box office clash. Rashmika Mandanna’s upcoming film The Girlfriend is reportedly set to release on the same day as Anushka Shetty’s film Ghaati. According to reports from 123 Telugu, both movies are expected to hit theatres on September 5, 2025, although no official announcement has been made yet.
The Girlfriend, Ghaati Set For Box Office Clash
If both films release on the same day, it will be an exciting competition at the box office. Rashmika’s The Girlfriend is a psychological thriller. The teaser of the film was released in December 2024, and it shows Rashmika playing a college student facing emotional struggles in her relationship with a character played by Dheekshith Shetty. The film is being produced by GA2 Pictures, Mass Movie Makers, and Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment.

Recently, the first single from The Girlfriend, titled ‘Nadhive’, was announced and is set to release soon. Fans are excited to see Rashmika in this intense role, which promises to show a different side of her as an actress.

On the other hand, Anushka Shetty’s Ghaati has already faced two delays. It was originally scheduled for April 18, 2025, then moved to July 11, and now possibly pushed to September 5. Ghaati stars Anushka alongside Vikram Prabhu and is directed by Krish Jagarlamudi. This is their second collaboration after the successful film Vedam. The movie is being produced by Rajeev Reddy and Sai Babu Jagarlamudi under the banner of UV Creations.
Anushka Shetty was last seen in the 2023 film Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty, a romantic comedy where she starred opposite Naveen Polishetty.
With both Rashmika and Anushka bringing powerful performances in their respective films, the Telugu audience will have an exciting choice to make whether to watch The Girlfriend, Ghaati, or both! Either way, September 5 could be a blockbuster Friday.
