Sachin shared his feelings on social media, saying he first visited Lord’s as a teenager in 1988. At that time, he stood near the pavilion, dreaming of one day becoming a great cricketer. Now, to have his portrait placed at the same place was like a dream come true for him. He said it was a feeling “hard to put into words.”

The portrait of Sachin was painted by Stuart Pearson Wright, a famous British artist. Interestingly, the painting is based on a photo taken 18 years ago at Sachin’s home in Mumbai. The portrait shows Sachin’s head and shoulders in a larger-than-life image. It will remain in the museum for now and will later be moved to the Lord’s Pavilion.

Sachin may not have scored big at Lord’s during his career, with only 195 runs in five Tests, but his overall record in England is impressive. He has scored 1,575 runs in 17 Tests in England with an average of over 54. In total, Sachin made 34,357 runs in his 24-year international career, making him one of the greatest batsmen in cricket history.

This honour celebrates not just Sachin’s cricket achievements, but also the inspiration he continues to give to young cricketers across the globe.
