Bollywood actor Aamir Khan recently shared a very emotional and personal part of his life. In a new interview, he talked about how he went through a very dark time after his divorce from Reena Dutta in 2002. He said that he was so heartbroken that he started drinking heavily and even thought about ending his life.

Aamir and Reena were neighbors who fell in love. They got married in 1986 and stayed together for 16 years. They have two children together Junaid and Ira. Reena also worked behind the scenes on Aamir’s film Lagaan, which was a big success. But despite their happy past, they separated quietly, without creating drama in the media.

In a recent promo shared by The Lallantop, Aamir said, “When Reena and I separated, that evening I drank a full bottle of alcohol. For the next 1.5 years, I drank every day. I didn’t sleep, I just passed out. I was trying to kill myself slowly.”
He added, “I didn’t want to meet anyone or work. That same year, Lagaan released, and one newspaper called me ‘Man of the Year’. I found it strange and sad at the same time.”

Aamir also sang a sad line from an old Hindi song, showing how deeply the divorce had affected him. He said that even though they separated, they still respected and cared for each other. On the show Koffee with Karan, he had earlier said that their split was painful but they handled it maturely.
After his divorce from Reena, Aamir married Kiran Rao in 2005, and they had a son named Azad. However, they also separated in 2021. Now, Aamir is reportedly dating Gauri Spratt, a close friend for 20 years.
Despite his personal struggles, Aamir remains on good terms with both his ex-wives and continues to be a caring father to his children. His honest words have touched many fans and shown the human side of a superstar.
